Program Operation: Kauai's Great
Weigh Out (KGWO) starts on Saturday,
February 24, 2007 and ends on May 12,
2007. KGWO Core Committee will be responsible
for the operation of this program.

Teams: Team members must be 18 years
of age and older. Pregnant or nursing
women are highly discouraged to take part
in the program. There will be no substituting
of team members or teams once team
rosters have been signed and team members
are weighed in on February 24, 2007.
A participant may not compete on more
than one team. Each team must consist of
ten members.

Health Screening: Each participant must get a medical clearance to participate in KGWO. This can be obtained from your personal health care provider or from Ho`ola Lahui Hawaii/ Kauai Community Health Center Clinic.

Pre and Post Screening:
All participants are required to complete Pre and Post Screening requirements.

Registration Dates:
Dec. 16 - Feb. 9, 2007 or 1st 20 teams.

Registration Fee: $10 per person to be collected at team
meeting.

KGWO Kick-off (Weigh-In)Event: Team
members must attend this event on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at Kukui Grove Center Stage from 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Team members will be weighed individually and "En-masse" by teams. Privacy of individual weights will be maintained, but total team pounds will be publicized. During the Weigh In and Weigh Out, coats, sweaters will need to be removed, however, shoes, shorts, trousers skirts and undergarments are to be kept on. All pockets in clothing must be empty.

Fit Buck Policy (teams only): During the program,
1) Attend a daily maximum of 2 KGWO
sponsored physical activity events not including
educational classes, 2) Record the amount
of fruits/vegetables and personal exercise time
in the Nutrition and Activity log, 3)Attend special
events such as hikes, cultural sports day,
and the Kick Off on February 24th at Kukui
Grove Shopping Center, 4) Get your pre and
post screening done by the appointed deadline. Read the Fitbuck instructions for Team Captains.

Injuries: KGWO is not responsible or liable for
any injury or bodily harm sustained by participants
during program operation. KGWO is in
no way liable or responsible for any injury or
health problems that participants encounter
before, during or after the operation of this program.

Media Release: KGWO team members may
be photographed as part of publicity to promote
Kauai's Great Weigh Out program. The right
to request participant permission prior to media
release is waived for media releases that
positively promote the program in the form of
photos, TV, newspaper, and radio.

Prizes: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes will be
awarded to the three teams losing the highest
percentage of weight and the three teams earning
the most Fit Bucks. 4th and 5th place teams
will receive Honorable Mention Prizes in both
percentage weight loss
and Fit Buck categories.
A team may win only
one prize. 1st place
prize will be awarded to
the team who has accumulated
the most Guest
Bucks by bringing
guests to KGWO sponsored
events.
