Program Operation: Program Operation: Phase One of Kauai's Great Weigh Out is a 12-week healthy lifestyle challenge starting Sat. March 4, 2006 and ending on Sat May 20, 2006. Kauai's Great Weigh Out Core Committee will be responsible for the operation of this program.

Teams: Team members must be 18 years of age and older. Each team must consist of 10 members. There will be no substitution of team members or teams as of February 6, 2006. A participant may not compete on more than one team. The first 20 teams to register will be accepted in the program.

Jan. 3 - Feb. 17, 2006 or 1st 20 teams.

KGWO Kick-off (Weigh-In)Event: Team members must attend this event on Saturday, March 4, 2006 at Kukui Grove Center Stage from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 pm. Team members will be weighed individually and "En-masse" by teams. Privacy of individual weights will be maintained, but total team pounds will be publicized. A detailed schedule of "Weigh-In" times will be distributed at your team meeting or emailed to you one week prior to the Kick Off on March 4th.

Fit Buck Policy (teams only): During the program, here are ways to earn fit bucks.
- Attend a daily maximum of 2 KGWO sponsored physical activity events. Education classes are not counted as part of the 2 sponsored events. You may attend educational classes as well as the 2 physical activity events to earn extra fitbucks.
- Record the amount of fruits/vegetables and personal exercise time in the Nutrition and Activity log
- Bring guests to KGWO events. Each KGWO team member will be given 1 fit buck credit for a maximum of 5 guests per event. (Me 2 participants attending and completing KGWO classes and events qualify as guests.)
- Attend special events such as hikes, cultural sports day, and the Kick Off on March 4th at Kukui Grove Shopping Center.
- Get all your screening done by your team meeting.

Injuries: Kauai's Great Weigh Out Program and Ho`ola Lahui Hawaii are not responsible or liable for any injury or bodily harm sustained by participants before, during or after the operation of this program. Participants will sign a waiver prior to start of program. A medical clearance is required prior to the start of the program.

Media Release: Kauai's Great Weigh Out team members may be photographed as part of publicity to promote Kauai's Great Weigh Out program. The requirement to request participant permission prior to media release is waived for media releases that positively promote the program in the form of photos, TV, newspaper and radio.

Prizes: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes will be awarded to the three teams losing the highest percentage of weight and the three teams earning the most Fit Bucks. 4th and 5th place teams will receive Honorable Mention Prizes in both percentage weight loss and Fit Buck categories. Your team may win only one prize.

Health Screening: Each participant must get a medical clearance to participate in KGWO. This can be obtained from your personal health care provider or from Ho`ola Lahui Hawaii/ Kauai Community Health Center Clinic.
